Uzbekistan launches regular railway transportation of goods to the Lithuanian port of Draugyste

JSC Uztemiryulcontainer launched regular freight trains from Uzbekistan to Lithuania. This was reported by Spot.uz with reference to the company’s press service.

The first train departed from the Sergeli station in Tashkent on December 5. The train consists of 31 fitting platforms that carry 80 standard 20-foot (6 m) containers of mineral fertilizers.

The train will cross Kazakhstan, Russia, and Belarus before reaching its destination – the Lithuanian port of Draugyste. The total length of the route exceeds 4600 km.

The company expects the new corridor to be in demand among exporters of Uzbek goods to Europe. Regular transportation creates convenience for businesses and saves time.

Uzbekistan has recently launched another route for the supply of goods – through Turkmenistan and Iran to Turkey and back. The first train on this route arrived in Tashkent on December 3.
