Production of greenhouse vegetables in Moscow region (Russia) exceeded 100 thousand tons in 2020

The area of ​​modern greenhouses in the Moscow region arrived at more than 166 hectares at the end of 2020. This is reported by the Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Moscow Region, Sergei Voskresensky on the website of Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation.

“The total area of ​​modern greenhouses in the Moscow Region by the end of 2020 is 166,71 hectares. The gross harvest of greenhouse vegetables at the end of the year amounted to 101 thousand tons. This is 11% more than in 2019, when 89,9 thousand tons were harvested. The Moscow region is now 100% self-sufficient again,” Sergei Voskresensky said.

The main part of the gross harvest was achieved by the following enterprises: “Agrokultura Group” from Kashira which on ​​79,8 hectares harvested 64,6 thousand tons; “Agrocomplex Ivanisovo” from the urban district of Elektrostal which on ​​20,4 hectares harvested 14,2 thousand tons; “Lukhovitskie ovoshchi” – 17,7 thousand from  ​​40,8 hectares; “Matveevskoye” from the Odintsovo urban district – 1,6 thousand tons from  ​​3,1 hectares; “Agrarnoe” from Orekhovo-Zuev – 1,9 thousand tons and “Agronom” from Odintsovo – 1 thousand tons.

“Last year, another modern “Turovsky greenhouse complex” with an area of ​​6,2 hectares was built. Its planned volume of tomato production will amount to 4,4 thousand tons. I would like to note that by the end of 2020, the Moscow Region ranks 3rd in terms of the gross harvest of vegetables in greenhouses in Russia,” Sergei Voskresensky emphasized.

The minister also added that according to the last year results, the Moscow region ranks 1st in the Central Federal District and 3rd in the Russian Federation for open field vegetables.
