Poland is the fastest growing market for vegetables and fruits from Morocco

Morocco’s export successes in the fruit and vegetable sector are no secret to industry experts. However, it is interesting to look at which markets are showing the most impressive dynamics in order to understand where the greatest new opportunities arise.

EastFruit experts decided to analyze the pace of fruit and vegetable exports among the top 20 largest markets for Moroccan vegetables and fruits over the past 5 years. The results of this analysis were surprising.

First of all, it is noteworthy that among the 20 largest sales markets, only one – Russia – showed sharp negative dynamics. Also, a slight decrease in the exports of vegetables and fruits was noted in the direction of Saudi Arabia and Qatar.

However, Poland turned out to be the leader in terms of export growth rates among key destinations. On average, over the past 5 years, exporters from Morocco have increased shipments of vegetables and fruits to Poland by 67% each year! Of course, Poland’s share in the exports of Moroccan fruits and vegetables remains small – only about 1%, but the growth rate of exports is impressive.

Among the products that Morocco supplies to Poland, the leading positions are in greenhouse tomatoes, fresh blueberries, frozen and fresh raspberries. Supplies of Moroccan tangerines, watermelons and avocados to Poland are also growing quite quickly.

If we talk about the absolute increase in export revenue, the UK remains the clear leader, which annually spends $110 million or 43% more on importing vegetables and fruits from Morocco.

Among the countries geographically most remote from Morocco, Canada clearly stands outs. This country increases imports from Morocco by 21% or $18 million each year. This has already allowed Canada to enter the top 7 most important markets for Moroccan produce. Canada buys clementines, tangerines and other citrus fruits from Morocco, as well as frozen strawberries and even fresh blueberries!
