In the third decade of June 2023, the first offers of the popular Rizamat and Kishmish Kora (Black Kishmish) grape varieties of the new crop appeared on the domestic market of Uzbekistan, at about the same time as last year, with a difference of up to one week. Accordingly, these grape varieties appeared in retail sales in late June- early July. However, at the beginning of the current season, prices for these grape varieties are significantly higher than last year’s levels, EastFruit analysts report.
On June 26, 2023, the Korzinka supermarket chain began selling Rizamat grapes in stores located in the capital of Uzbekistan at 9,990 soums per 100 grams, i.e., 99,900 per 1 kg ($8.7). Three weeks later, as of July 18, the minimum retail price for the same products in the stores of this chain was 46,990 soums / kg ($ 4.1), i.e., prices for Rizamat grapes decreased twice over the past period.
For comparison, last year, Rizamat grapes appeared on the shelves of Korzinka stores on June 27, 2022, at 74,990 soums / kg ($ 6.9), and as of July 18, 2022, this grape variety was sold in the same supermarket chain at price 24,990 sum/kg ($2.3). In other words, in three weeks, the prices for these products fell exactly three times.
As of July 18, 2023, the current retail prices for Rizamat grapes are 1.9 times higher than the levels recorded on the same date last year.
In addition, prices for another popular grape variety in Uzbekistan, Kishmish, are significantly higher than last year’s. Mentioned varieties are among the most popular grape varieties grown in Uzbekistan.
