In Ukraine, the price of white cabbage begins to decline

The Ukrainian white cabbage market is experiencing a significant decrease in trading activity, according to analysts from the EastFruit project. By the end of last week, the supply of this product in the Ukrainian market had increased substantially as farmers, who had previously withheld sales anticipating further price increases, began selling off their stocks. Producers were forced to make this decision due to the rapid deterioration of the cabbage quality in storage.

The increased supply of white cabbage has already negatively impacted prices in this segment. From mid-January, farmers had almost daily increased prices for this vegetable, but as of today, most producers are compelled to revise their pricing downward. Currently, white cabbage is being sold at 32-38 UAH/kg ($0.77-0.91/kg), which is on average 10% cheaper than at the end of the previous working week.

Meanwhile, farms with reserves of high-quality produce are not rushing to sell, believing that demand for cabbage will become more active closer to the end of the current month.

It is worth noting that despite the price decline, white cabbage in Ukraine currently sells on average 4.5 times more expensive than the same period last year.
