Analysts from EastFruit have reported a decline in wholesale prices for table beets in Ukraine this week. The dip in prices is attributed to a fall in demand. Moreover, the market is experiencing a glut due to an influx of substandard beets, which producers are eager to offload.
Data from the project’s daily monitoring indicates that beets are being sold at Ukrainian farms for 8-14 UAH/kg ($0.21-0.36/kg), marking an average decrease of 13% from the previous week’s closing figures.

Producers cite the subdued demand for table beets and the swift decline in quality of these root vegetables in storage as the primary drivers of the current pricing landscape. Despite the dwindling supplies of table beets in Ukrainian farm storages, farmers are compelled to lower wholesale prices.
It is noteworthy, however, that despite these challenges, Ukrainian producers are still managing to sell table beets at prices that are, on average, double those from the first half of April 2023.
