Polish gardeners manage to deliver more expensive apples than at the beginning of September last year

This week, Polish gardeners managed to raise apples’ prices according to the EastFruit project’s analysts. Market players explain the rise in prices by several factors at once. First of all, this is facilitated by the reduction in the supply of autumn fruits, which are traditionally not in high demand. Besides, trading activity in this segment has significantly increased, which also has a positive effect on prices.

Thus, at the moment, producers are announcing the price for an apple in the range of $ 0.53-0.69 / kg, which is, on average, 12% more expensive than at the end of the last working week. The main factor behind the rise in prices in this segment was the reduction in apples’ supply on the market. Most gardeners reported that the season for selling summer apple varieties is coming to an end. At the same time, later varieties that are suitable for storing have not yet gone on sale. It is possible to note that the demand for these fruits has intensified somewhat.

At the moment, an apple in Poland is, on average, 29% more expensive than at the beginning of September 2019. At the same time, the key market players are confident that low prices for apples should not be expected this season. They argue their opinion by decreasing the gross collection of fruits in the country and a limited supply of quality apples. Since the weather conditions in the current season not only negatively affected the yield of apples, but also significantly reduced the quality characteristics of these products.
