Memojam is a new jam brand of the Georgian berry producer Memoberry LLC, which will soon enter the Georgian retail and export market.
Ekaterina Chkoidze, director of Memoberry, in an exclusive commentary to EastFruit, said that the presentation of products is planned to take place at the Gulfood exhibition in Dubai at the Georgian stand from February 20 to 24, 2023.
“We produce and sell blueberries under the Memoberry brand, but the whole process takes only 2 months. To make more efficient use of the cold storage and retain labor, as well as add value to non-standard berries, we decided to invest in a jam processing line. 80% of jam contents are fresh carefully sorted berries of our own production. Also, thanks to the variety of fruits that grow in western Georgia, we have created delicious mixes such as raspberry and peach, orange and fig. All products are made from local raw materials with a minimum content of added sugar and will be sold in the premium segment,” Ms. Chkoidze commented.

Jam is packed in glass jars of 315 grams. Production capacity is 60 000 units per month. The company’s management does not exclude cooperation with ice cream and confectionery producers. Besides, it negotiates with several companies to produce jams under their trademarks.
Memoberry grows blueberries on 20 hectares in the Zugdidi region (Samegrelo region, Western Georgia). The project was launched in 2017 with the support of the state “Unified Agroproject”. The varieties grown by the company are Bluecrop, Duke, Legacy, Star, New Hannover, and O’neal. In 2022, the company established a blueberry and ornamental plant nursery and opened a cold store with USAID support. The plantation is certified with GLOBALG.A.P. and GRASP. Production will soon be certified with the HAACP standard.
