Egypt has seen a remarkable increase in fresh grape exports to Finland, as reported by EastFruit. By the end of 2024, the country supplied 3.8 thousand tons of grapes to Finnish markets, valued at over $14 million. This represents nearly three times the export volume of 2023 and sets a new milestone in the trade relationship between Egypt and Finland.
Grapes rank among Egypt’s top fruit and berry exports, second only to oranges and frozen strawberries in export value. In 2024, Egypt exported grapes to 56 countries, with Finland accounting for 2.5% of the total exports.
South Africa remains Finland’s primary grape supplier and is one of the top three global exporters of grapes. Shipments from South Africa, along with those from India, predominantly occur in the first half of the year. In contrast, Egypt’s export season to Finland typically spans from May to December, placing Egyptian grapes in direct competition with produce from Spain, Italy, and the Netherlands.

By the close of 2024, Egypt’s tripling of grape exports enabled the country to surpass Spain and secure second place among Finland’s grape import sources, capturing a 27.1% market share.
Beyond Finland, Egypt’s grape exports continue to expand in other Scandinavian countries, including Norway, Denmark, and Ireland. However, shipments to Sweden remain modest.
