Ukrainian farmers haven’t been able to avoid a drop in potato prices, according to analysts from the EastFruit project. Experts note that while potato prices in Ukraine remained relatively stable for two weeks, many producers are now forced to lower their prices this week.
Currently, farmers are selling high-quality potatoes at 18-28 UAH/kg ($0.43-0.67/kg), depending on quality and volume, which is, on average, 10% cheaper than the previous week.
Market participants believe the main reason for the price adjustment is a decrease in purchasing activity in this segment. Additionally, the quality of the potatoes has noticeably declined due to long-term storage, and farmers are more willing to lower prices when selling large volumes.

Nevertheless, it’s worth noting that despite the price reduction, the current potato price in Ukraine is still, on average, 21% higher than in early February 2024.
