Ukrainian farmers are having difficulty selling carrots

Ukrainian farmers are concerned about the situation in the carrot market: prices have fallen to an all-time low, according to EastFruit project analysts. At the moment, trading and purchasing activity in the carrot market remains inactive.

At the same time, farmers need to sell large volumes of this product of medium varieties that are not subject to long-term storage. In this situation, producers are forced to further reduce prices for carrots. So, at the moment, they offer this root crop for sale at 7-12 UAH/kg ($0.19-0.33/kg), which is, on average, 16% cheaper than at the end of the last working week.

According to the growers, the carrot market has been overstocked for the past few weeks. Sales of this root crop today are carried out on a case-by-case basis and only in small batches. In addition, buyers often insist on lower prices, referring to the abundance of carrots on the market. It should be noted that at the moment, carrots in Ukraine already cost an average of 40% cheaper than at the beginning of autumn 2022.

At the same time, farmers do not expect the situation to improve yet, since the supply of carrots on the market is currently excessive, and it has not yet been possible to unload the market due to the low rates of sales of this product.
