The average wholesale price for oranges in Uzbekistan has decreased by a third over the last week, which was the largest weekly price fluctuation for oranges from the beginning of January 2022. At the same time, current wholesale prices are 22% lower than last year’s levels, EastFruit analysts report.
According to EastFruit price monitoring, the average wholesale price for oranges in Uzbekistan decreased from 21 000 to 14 000 UZS/kg from 9 to 16 December 2022 – by 33% in one week.
As can be seen from the graph, the average wholesale orange prices in Uzbekistan in most of 2022 were well below last year’s levels. As a result, wholesale prices for oranges again turned out to be much lower than last year. Moreover, the current wholesale prices are 7% lower than at the end of December last year. For comparison, the average wholesale price for oranges on December 16, 2021, was 18 000 UZS/kg, and 15 000 UZS/kg at the end of December 2021.
Of course, the reduction in prices for oranges is a good “gift” for consumers in Uzbekistan on the eve of the New Year holidays, especially if they continue to decline, repeating the dynamics of wholesale prices in the second half of December last year.
We remind you that Uzbekistan currently has customs privileges for the import of citrus fruits. Zero rates of customs duties are set for the import of fresh or dried citrus fruits, except for lemons, until July 1, 2023.
