In Ukraine, onion prices continue to decrease

This week, negative price trends in the onion market in Ukraine have intensified. According to analysts from the EastFruit project, while many farmers refrained from selling onions last week in hopes of increasing wholesale prices in this segment, Ukrainian farms have decided to start selling their stocks this week. Producers were forced to begin sales due to the gradual decline in the quality of this product.

The sharp increase in the supply of onions on the market immediately affected the prices of this product. As of today, the main sales of the vegetable are carried out in the range of 8-14 UAH/kg ($0.19-0.34/kg), depending on the quality and volume of the batches offered, which is on average 12% cheaper than at the end of last week.

It is worth noting that in the current situation, owners of high-quality onions have decided to refrain from selling altogether and have announced their intention to resume sales no earlier than March this year.

It should be added that currently, onion prices in Ukraine are already on average 20% lower than at the beginning of February 2024.
