In Ukraine greenhouse cucumber prices are rising again

Greenhouse cucumbers in Ukraine are becoming more expensive, as reported by analysts from the EastFruit project. Market participants connect the price increase in this segment with a surge in demand for greenhouse cucumbers amid a relatively low supply of this product.

Currently, greenhouse cucumbers are being sold at 80-120 UAH/kg ($1.93-2.89/kg), which is, on average, 23% more expensive than the previous week.

Another reason for the price hike of greenhouse cucumbers is the rather limited supply of this product in the market. As of today, the main supply on the Ukrainian market comes exclusively from imports, since Ukrainian greenhouse complexes won’t hit the market with a new turnover before the middle of this month.

However, despite the increase in the price of greenhouse cucumbers, they are currently offered for sale in Ukraine at an average of 12% cheaper than at the beginning of February last year.
