Exports of hazelnuts from Azerbaijan to the EU declined sharply

The countries of the European Union (EU) in January-May 2023 imported from Azerbaijan 4.486 thousand tons of hazelnuts kernel (a decrease of 45.2% year-on-year) for 23.872 million EUR (a reduction of 49.8%), according to the materials of the statistical office European Union (Eurostat), reports the Interfax-Azerbaijan.

During the reporting period, Azerbaijan exported 2.406 thousand tons of hazelnuts to Germany (an increase of 1.7 times) for 12.975 million euros (an increase of 1.5 times), to Italy – 1.284 thousand tons (a decrease of 5.1 times) by 6.887 million euros (decline by 5.6 times).

The Czech Republic, Estonia, Spain, France, Latvia, Poland, and Slovakia purchased small volumes of hazelnuts.

According to Eurostat, the EU countries imported 10.061 thousand tons of hazelnuts from Azerbaijan in 2022 (an increase of 42.7% compared to 2021) for 58.103 million euros (an increase of 44.5%).
