Easy Star and Easy Rock – the Italian producer will increase the cultivation of these raspberry varieties tenfold!

“The 2023 harvest year proved complicated, but we kept pace thanks to our two new raspberry varieties, Easy Star and Easy Rock,” said Luca Molari, who owns the Italian breeder and plant nursery G-Berries with his brother Matteo. “And this year, we will increase the production of these two varieties tenfold.”

“Raspberries had a difficult year due to a series of factors,” explains technician Alessandro Gualandi. “Fortunately, thanks to their productivity and ease of use, our two new varieties perfectly met the needs of our customers, who were able to limit the damage. Shorter and earlier harvests cut costs, and this was an important factor, especially in the first half of the year, when prices were low, not only in Italy but all over the world.”

According FreshPlaza, G-Berries closed the year 2023 with the consolidation of several international collaborations and the laying of the foundation for the important year 2024. “Over the past few months, we’ve been working on our new experimental center. Activities will begin in spring 2024. We are always on the lookout for new things, but only after thorough research, selection, and testing.”

The Gil program involves collaborating with world-class companies. “When we began this innovative project,” says Molari, “we were optimistic because so many people remembered our father Gilberto and how seriously he took his work. Of course, this alone wouldn’t have been enough. We are proud that our idea has succeeded because of its validity. We have nailed down the goal of creating the content and the time frame; now, we have to be good at pushing forward with the innovation based on what the customers need. We have nothing preconceived but a program based on the real needs of the major producing regions of the world.”

“There is no perfect variety for everyone,” say Molari and Gualandi, “so the Gil range aims to meet the needs of growers and the market.
