Ukrainian traders are reporting a new wave of declining prices for imported tomatoes. A short-term but noticeable price increase last week led to a sharp decrease in demand for Turkish tomatoes from buyers, according to analysts at the EastFruit project. Additionally, project experts note that only single batches of local greenhouse vegetables were available for sale this week, as most greenhouse farms in Ukraine have already concluded their selling season.
Simultaneously, the supply of imported tomatoes on the Ukrainian market continued to gradually increase, which became the main reason for the price drop in this segment. As of today, greenhouse tomatoes are being sold at 70-80 UAH/kg ($1.68-1.92/kg), which is on average 11% cheaper than at the end of the last working week. The main reasons for the negative price trend in the greenhouse tomato segment, according to producers, are the sharp decline in demand for this product and the quality of the vegetables offered.

It is also worth noting that, as of today, imported tomatoes in Ukraine are already being sold at an average of 54% higher than in the same period last year. However, the majority of wholesale companies do not rule out further price reductions. According to traders, if the current sales pace continues, they will be forced to lower prices again to avoid an accumulation of unsold products in warehouses.
