Cucumber prices in Uzbekistan increased by 67% in a week

Over the past week, the average wholesale price for a smooth short cucumber in Uzbekistan has increased by 67%, the first weekly price increase for this vegetable over the past four months. According to EastFruit analysts, cucumber wholesale prices have reached their lowest level this year. In the next few weeks, an upward trend will form in the dynamics of prices for this product, which usually lasts until the end of the calendar year.

According to EastFruit price monitoring, from July 7 to 14, 2023, the average wholesale price for a smooth short cucumber increased from 3,000 to 5,000 sum/kg (from $0.26 to $0.46).

Since the beginning of March 2023, a downtrend has formed in the price dynamics of the smooth short cucumber, which lasted until the beginning of June. Having stayed at 3,000 soums/kg ($0.26) for almost a month and a half, the average wholesale price for these products increased to 5,000 soums/kg ($0.46), i.e., by 66.7%. According to market participants, the price rise for cucumbers is associated with a seasonal reduction in the supply of smooth short cucumbers in the domestic market, as it usually happens in July, the hottest summer month. In addition, in the next month and a half, a price fall to 3000 UZS / kg ($ 0.26) or lower is unlikely.

EastFruit analysts believe wholesale prices for smooth short cucumbers have reached a minimum this year, and the jump in prices observed over the past week is probably the beginning of an upward trend that will last until the end of the year.
