Greenhouse cucumber prices in Ukraine have been on a rapid upward trajectory for the fifth week in a row, according to EastFruit. This sustained price increase is attributed to a further decline in the supply of local products due to seasonal factors, coupled with steady demand from both retail and wholesale buyers.
The project’s weekly monitoring data indicates that most large greenhouse farms in Ukraine have already announced the end of the cucumber sales season for the last turnover. Currently, only a few farms are still selling, and the quality of the available products is often quite low.
As of today, wholesale batches of greenhouse cucumbers in Ukraine are being sold at 100-125 UAH/kg ($2.42-3.02/kg), which is on average 11% higher than the previous week. Market operators report that the supply of imported vegetables is currently insufficient to meet all buyer demands, which does not help stabilize prices in this segment.

It is noteworthy that Ukrainian greenhouse farms are now able to sell cucumbers at an average of 72% higher than during the same period last year. Market participants believe that the price increase in this segment may continue in the near future, as only new large-scale imports of greenhouse vegetables to the domestic market can alter the current situation.
