This week, greenhouse cucumber prices in Ukraine have risen significantly, according to analysts from the EastFruit project. Producers themselves note that the price increase is primarily due to heightened demand amid reduced supply of this product in the domestic market.
Currently, greenhouse farms are ready to ship cucumbers at 45-60 UAH/kg ($0.31-0.52/kg), which is on average 35% more expensive than at the end of last week. It can be stated that as of today, greenhouse cucumbers in Ukraine are being sold at the highest prices, at least in the past seven years.

Market operators say the upward price trend is driven by several factors. First and foremost, it is the result of a fairly limited supply of cucumbers on the market, as open-ground products are almost no longer entering the market. Additionally, the harvest of this product in greenhouse farms has also noticeably decreased due to the drop in average daily temperatures.
Furthermore, as of now, cucumbers in Ukrainian farms are already twice as expensive as they were a year ago. Market players do not rule out the possibility of further price increases in this segment.
