Analysts from EastFruit report that increased trading activity is driving up carrot prices in Ukraine. The primary reason for this price surge is the reduced supply of root vegetables on the market due to seasonal factors.
Currently, farmers in key production regions are selling high-quality carrots at 12-16 UAH/kg ($0.29-0.39/kg), which is on average 32% higher than at the end of last week. Market operators attribute this price trend to a significant reduction in carrot supply during the off-season. Specifically, most farms have already completed the sale of mid-season carrot varieties, while the harvest of later varieties has not yet begun.
It is noteworthy that the current price of high-quality carrots in Ukraine is already on average 2.2 times higher than it was a year ago. Furthermore, some producers plan to continue raising prices if the current sales pace is maintained.
