Beetroot price keeps falling in Ukraine

Prices for beetroot have been decreasing in Ukraine for the second week in a row, analysts of the EastFruit project report. Market participants believe that the reason for such a price situation is the excess supply of beetroot on the market, while the demand is rather low.

Currently, the main sales of beetroot are at 12-16 UAH/kg ($0.33-0.44/kg), which is on average 27% cheaper than last week. Industry experts attribute the next decrease in selling prices in the segment to the oversaturation of the market with beetroots. Also, there is a significant decrease in demand for beetroot today, while the harvesting is quite active in almost all regions of the country. In such circumstances, producers are forced to make concessions to buyers and reduce selling prices.

However, even though the price of beetroot in Ukraine has been decreasing for the second week in a row, it is still much higher than last year. At the end of July 2021, beetroot cost on average 1.6 times cheaper than today.
