The price increase for greenhouse cucumbers in the Ukrainian market continued this week, as reported by analysts from the EastFruit project. Several key factors contributed to this situation. The demand for greenhouse vegetables remained consistently high, while the supply of these products in the market was still limited. At the same time, there was interest in new purchases from both retail chains and large wholesale companies.
As a result, as of today, greenhouse cucumbers are being sold at 100-140 UAH/kg ($2.37-3.31/kg), which is on average 20% more expensive than at the end of last week.
Meanwhile, the market saw stable imports of these products, mainly from Turkey. However, despite the steady imports, the available supply was insufficient to meet the growing buyer demands. Under these circumstances, sellers actively increased the selling prices for both locally produced and imported products. Market participants reported that stocks at local farms were sparse and inconsistent, influenced by seasonal factors.
