Moldova boosts table grape exports in 2023, reaches new markets

Moldova saw a remarkable growth in its table grape exports in 2023, according to the data released by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry. MOLDPRES reports that the country exported about 11% more grapes in volume and 33% more in value than in 2022.

The Customs Service data shows that Moldova sold 84.55 thousand tons of grapes worth $75.67 million in 2023, with an average price of $0.9 per kg.

Moldova also diversified its export markets in 2023, reaching 33 countries, up from 23 in 2022. Some of the new destinations for Moldovan grapes include Sweden, Slovenia, Slovakia, Serbia, Italy, Lithuania, United Arab Emirates, Hong Kong, Kyrgyzstan, and Albania.

Moldovan grape exporters have the opportunity to access the EU market without any tariff or quantitative barriers, thanks to the decision of the European Parliament. However, this also means that they have to meet the high standards of quality and safety that the European market demands. Therefore, it is crucial that producers engage in effective planning and coordination to ensure that their grapes comply with the EU regulations.
