Georgia to export 500 tonnes of blueberries to EU and UK

The Ministry of Economy of Georgia on Tuesday said 500 tonnes of blueberries would be exported to the European Union and the United Kingdom as part of the Lead Generation Programme aimed at connecting domestic producers with foreign buyers and expanding international market opportunities.

According Agenda.ge, the body added a part of the product shipment had already been transported to export markets.

The Programme is being implemented by Enterprise Georgia – the state agency promoting entrepreneurship, investment and exports – in cooperation with the United States Agency for International Development’s Agriculture Programme and the Rural Development Agency of Georgia’s Ministry of Agriculture.

Enterprise Georgia CEO Mikheil Khidureli said an “unprecedented volume” of blueberries had been exported as part of the Programme.

Georgian entrepreneurs seeking to export their products to international markets can get in touch with us. This presents a great opportunity to find a strategic partner and establish a favourable contract. I believe with such targeted engagements, we can make a significant impact on the country’s export statistics”, Khidureli said.
