By his decree, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan has extended the zero import customs duty on a range of food products until January 1, 2025. The aim of this decision is to maintain price stability in the domestic market and keep inflation under control, a government source informed “Gazeta.uz”.
The decree prolongs the zero import customs duty on the goods listed in Annex No. 1 to the Presidential Decree of May 31, 2022 (UP-145) and the Decree of March 23, 2023 (UP-41) until January 1, 2025.
These include food by-products of cattle, fish, milk, cream, butter, eggs, bananas, citrus fruits, other fruits, onions and some vegetables, coffee, tea, vegetable oils, flour, cereals, flour and pasta products, water, hair products, children’s clothing, etc.

The double customs duty does not apply to goods from countries that do not have a most favored nation status in their trade and economic relations with Uzbekistan until the end of 2024.
The Government Commission on Investment Attraction, Industrial Development and Trade Regulation has been tasked to present proposals to the President’s Administration by February 1 on how to avoid a sharp increase in sugar prices and ensure stable production.
Furthermore, the commission is expected to evaluate the effectiveness of the current benefits and prepare suggestions for their extension by October 1.
