Ukrainian orchardists lower apple prices

A decline in trading activity is being observed in Ukraine’s apple market, according to analysts from the EastFruit project. This situation arises because many producers have lost hope of another price increase in this segment and have begun selling off these fruits from storage. Consequently, the supply of apples in the market has significantly increased, forcing Ukrainian orchardists to reduce prices for their produce.

Currently, quality apples are being sold at prices ranging from 22 to 30 UAH per kilogram ($0.53 to $0.72 per kilogram), which is an average of 12% cheaper than at the end of the previous week.

However, it is worth noting that despite the reduction in prices, apples in Ukraine are currently being sold at prices that are on average 48% higher than during the same period last year. Meanwhile, market operators do not rule out further price reductions in this segment, as the quality of apples in storage continues to degrade rapidly, while demand for these fruits remains quite low due to high selling prices.
