The Ukrainian carrot market is experiencing a trend of declining prices, according to analysts from the EastFruit project. However, as producers note, the demand for carrots remains fairly low today, with wholesale companies purchasing on a need-only basis, preferring not to store the product for extended periods. This practice also negatively impacts the overall price levels.
Currently, producers are selling carrots at 15-23 UAH/kg ($0.36-0.56/kg), depending on the quality and volume of the offered lots. This represents an average decrease of 21% compared to the previous week. Experts from the project identify the main reason for the price drop as the seasonal increase in supply amidst relatively restrained demand for this product. Consequently, in an effort to boost sales, farmers are compelled to revise their selling prices downward.

It’s worth noting that despite the price reduction, carrots in Ukraine are currently 2.4 times more expensive on average than during the same period last year. Industry experts attribute this price disparity to a significant drop in crop yield caused by the abnormally dry summer.
