Local greenhouse cucumbers in Ukraine have seen a sharp drop in prices this week, EastFruit reports. Ukrainian greenhouse farms are now selling cucumbers for 85-130 UAH/kg ($2.23-3.41/kg), which is 15% lower than the previous week’s average.

Warm sunny weather in most parts of the country has boosted the cucumber harvest in local greenhouses last week, which has resulted in a surge of supply on the market. Producers are hoping for a slight improvement in this segment soon, but wholesalers are less optimistic. They believe that the prices for greenhouse cucumbers will be held back by the seasonal rise in supply in the near future. Moreover, some greenhouse farms in Ukraine are still getting ready to collect a new harvest.
It is noteworthy that cucumbers in Ukraine are now 16% less expensive on average than they were in the same period last year. However, these greenhouse vegetables are still the priciest in the region, compared to other countries.
