The season for Turkish apples has been a very positive one, with sales at a very high level, says Merve Akyol, export specialist for Turkish produce exporter TEO Export: “This year, the Turkish apple season has been very good. Our sales were very fast, to the point where we couldn’t even keep up with all the orders at some point. Which means the season overall has been a great success for us. This is proven by the increase of our sales in India, thanks to increased brand awareness among the consumers. But our sales in European markets were also quite solid. As such, we have exported a very large volume towards the Indian market. On top of that, we’ve established new markets in both Europe and the Middle East.”
According to Akyol, logistics made the season a bit more challenges than usual, FreshPlaza notes. “Not everything was smooth sailing, as we did have to deal with the rising shipping costs this season. Logistics in general has proven to be challenging for us this year. However, we managed to overcome these difficulties thanks to good communication with our customers. Despite the logistical issues, we were competitive with the Iranian market this season. Iranian apples and Turkish apples were the best sellers this season. The main reason for the success of the Turkish apples was that they had great taste and were quite juicy. The color ratio was also very high compared to the Iranian apples. We can say that this definitely made us stand out in the market this year.”

Although the season is coming to a close, TEO Export still has apples available for those that need them: “The current apple season is slowly coming to an end and we have already started to make preparations for the new season. We pay great attention and care to our apple trees, in order to grow the best quality products in our apple orchards. Every year we strive to do better than we did in the previous year. As a standard, we do not compromise on our quality and always offer our customers first class products. We’re happy to take in new clients, so try out the Turkish apples if you haven’t already!” Akyol concludes.
