According to EastFruit, Ukraine plans to start using the e-Phyto system in the first half of 2025, following approximately three years of efforts to integrate it into national legislation. Currently, the system is undergoing final testing.
The implementation of e-Phyto will streamline the export of fruits, vegetables, and other agricultural products that require phytosanitary certification. It will also simplify the import process, benefiting both consumers and traders.
Countries already using e-Phyto have reported increased trade, reduced costs and corruption, and lower risks of transferring dangerous pests and diseases. Ukraine’s main markets for fresh produce in the EU are active members of the e-Phyto system, which is excellent news for exporters and importers. Other active trading partners using e-Phyto include Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, and India. Additionally, all major banana suppliers to Ukraine can issue e-Phyto certificates.
