The peak season of table grapes exports started in Uzbekistan

The Uzbek team of EastFruit announces the start of the peak export of table grapes from Uzbekistan. Table grapes rank first both in physical terms and in export earnings in the fruit exports segment of the republic. As a rule, the season of peak exports of grapes from Uzbekistan starts in the second half of July. As market participants report, the 2021 season starts as usual.
According to exporters and participants in the logistics services market, shipments of Uzbek table grapes have increased significantly in the third decade of July, especially since the beginning of this week, which marks the beginning of their peak export. Judging by the statistics of past years, from 93% to 98% of all grape exports from Uzbekistan are exported from July to December, approximately 80% to 90% – from August to November. At the same time, July, the start of the season, accounts for 3% to 6% of the annual exports volume and the same amount is in the end of the season, December. According to market participants, exports of Uzbek table grapes were low until mid-July 2021 and increased in the last 7-10 days. Thus, the 2021 season starts at the usual time.
From 2017 to 2020, the country exported to foreign markets from 117 thousand to 141 thousand tons of fresh table grapes, and export earnings at the end of 2020 amounted to $ 133 million.

The main, largest export markets for Uzbek table grapes are Russia, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, the total share of which accounts for 98-99% of the total exports of fresh table grapes from Uzbekistan. From 2018 to 2020, from 400 to 1300 tons of fresh table grapes per year were supplied from Uzbekistan to the markets of Ukraine and Belarus. Over the past 4 years, small batches of fresh table grapes (from 17 to 70 tons) were exported to Mongolia, the United Arab Emirates, Germany, Poland, Turkey, Afghanistan, Latvia, Lithuania, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan.
According to the data at the beginning of July 2021, table rapes in Uzbekistan are grown on an area of 90 000 hectares and 52 000 hectares of new vineyards have been planted over the past four years. In the coming years, the area of vineyards in the republic is planned to increase by creating new export-oriented plantations in 44 regions.
