Raspberry selling season in Ukraine is close to an end

The season of raspberry sales in horticultural farms of Ukraine is ending, analysts of the EastFruit project report. It is worth noting that this year the raspberry selling season ends earlier than usual. This situation is explained by the producers themselves, first of all, by the earlier sales of this berry. At the same time, high temperatures and drought during the second half of the summer contributed to the acceleration of ripening and, as a result, an earlier end of the season of raspberries of everbearing varieties.

At the same time, during the same period last year selling prices for the last batches of raspberries on the Ukrainian market were on average 73% higher than in the current season. Market analysts attribute this price difference to the increase in raspberry production in the country this year. At the same time, the majority of producers remained disappointed with the outgoing season. In addition to the low price level, one of the main problems faced by Ukrainian farmers this year is the shortage of labor and a significant increase in harvesting costs. In such conditions, horticulturists emphasize that market prices often did not allow to cover even a part of the production costs of everbearing varieties.

To date, Ukrainian growers offer the last batches of raspberries for sale at 50-80 UAH/kg ($1.37-2.19/kg), which is on average 29% more expensive than at the end of last week.
