According to the customs service of the Republic of Moldova, almost 25 thousand tons of apples were exported from the country in April this year, which is more than twice as much as their external supplies last March (11 thousand tons) and even significantly exceeds April exports (20.5 thousand tons). tons) in the pre-war last year.
In the structure of supplies of Moldovan apples last month, a little more than 20 thousand tons were in the CIS countries (Russian, Belarusian, Uzbek markets) and Georgia. At the same time, about 2 thousand tons of apples were sent to Romania and the countries of the Middle East. It is especially worth considering that the Republic of Moldova has been supplying about 1.9-2 thousand tons of apples to the Romanian market for the second month in a row. Whereas for the entire last year, only about 1.8 thousand tons were exported to the Romanian market, and in the best marketing seasons – up to 3 thousand tons of Moldovan apples.
Moldova has never exported more than 1,000 tons of apples per season to the markets of the Middle East in previous years. Traders note that in the structure of Middle Eastern exports, at least 75% are apples of the Gala group of varieties, the rest are Red Chief, Golden and Granny Smith varieties. Although, as the supply increases, buyers in the countries of the region show interest in Moldovan apples and other varieties.
