The prices of greenhouse cucumbers in Ukraine are rising again, as EastFruit analysts report. The market participants explain this trend by the growing demand for greenhouse cucumbers and the limited supply of this product. The second half of this week has seen a surge in the activity of wholesale companies that buy greenhouse cucumbers, while the production of this crop in Ukrainian greenhouses is still very low.
The current market prices of greenhouse cucumbers are at 90-120 UAH/kg ($ 2.39-3.19/kg), which is on average 24% higher than a week ago.
The importers expect that the prices of cucumbers will keep increasing until at least the end of February. They base their predictions on the fact that the imported product faces almost no competition in the Ukrainian market.

This means that most of the Ukrainian greenhouses have not started their sales season yet. Moreover, the local products will be more expensive than the imported ones, mainly because of the higher production costs, as the heating expenses of Ukrainian greenhouses have risen considerably.
It is worth noting that a year ago, greenhouse cucumbers in Ukraine were sold on average 38% lower than today.
