Egypt continues to expand its dried onion exports to Germany, according to EastFruit. In 2024, Egyptian exporters delivered 5.7 tons of dried onions to the German market, valued at over 18.5 million tons, which is 1.5 times more than the previous year. This export volume is the highest on record.
Egyptian dried onion exports to Germany have been growing for the past six years, with the exception of 2023. Dried onions from Egypt are exported to Germany throughout the year, with peak shipments typically occurring in April and September.

Egypt is the second-largest supplier of dried onions to Germany, second only to India, the world’s leading exporter. Egypt’s share in Germany’s dried onion imports has been steadily increasing. In 2019, Egyptian exports accounted for only 13.1% of Germany’s total dried onion imports, but by 2022, this share had grown to 20%. By the end of 2024, the share of Egyptian dried onions reached a record 23.2%.
It is also worth noting that in 2023, Egypt set a record for vegetable and fruit exports to Germany.
