According to data from the daily monitoring project EastFruit, this week has seen a decline in carrot prices on the Ukrainian root vegetable market. This price drop is attributed to the active sales of stored products from warehouses.
Currently, Ukrainian farmers are offering carrots for sale at an average of 10% lower prices than at the end of the previous working week. Shipments of this product are now being made at 25-32 UAH/kg ($0.60-0.77/kg).
According to producers, the price reduction is largely due to the increased supply of non-standard carrots in the market. Due to the relatively mild winter, the quality of products in small farms’ cold storage has been deteriorating rapidly, prompting farmers to sell off their existing stocks. At the same time, market players note that owners of high-quality carrots, who are not facing storage issues, prefer to halt the sale of their products.

It is important to note that despite the price drop, carrots in Ukraine are currently priced, on average, three times higher than in mid-March 2024. Additionally, most market participants do not rule out the possibility of further price decreases, which is linked to relatively low trading activity in this segment.
