In Ukraine, prices for white cabbage have started to rise again this week. According to the daily monitoring data from the EastFruit project, by the end of January, many producers have sold most of their stocks. Additionally, there are almost no medium and low-quality vegetables left on the market.
As of today, wholesale prices for white cabbage in farms have risen to 34-40 UAH/kg ($0.81-0.95/kg), depending on quality and volume of the product offered, which is on average 15% more expensive than at the end of last week. Cabbage has once again topped the list of the most expensive items among the borscht set ingredients in Ukraine!

Given the rapid decline in cabbage stocks on farms, farmers have begun to hold back sales of high-quality vegetables, leading to another price spike this week. Wholesale companies also confirm this information, noting a general reduction in cabbage offerings on the market.
It’s worth noting that current prices for white cabbage in Ukraine are on average 3.7 times higher than at the same period last year. Most market participants do not rule out the possibility of further price increases, and they believe that the rate of price growth will accelerate as stocks of this product dwindle in households.
