Bank of Georgia and Agritouch offer new opportunities for small and medium agricultural producers

From now on, small and medium-sized agricultural producers who apply for an agricultural loan from the Bank of Georgia can use the consulting services and other services of the Georgian company Agritouch.

“Support for the agricultural sector is one of the important directions for the Bank of Georgia. That is why, as part of this initiative, in partnership with us, Agritouch helps small and medium-sized businesses in consulting, planting, and caring for orchards. This gives them the opportunity to gain in-depth knowledge of the agricultural sector, which is crucial for farmers. Thanks to the knowledge gained, they will be able to open new enterprises, help other businesses and share their own experience, which will further develop and strengthen agriculture,” Alexander Melkadze, head of agricultural products development at the Bank of Georgia, said in a commentary for the media.

Agritouch has been operating in the market since 2018 and assists Georgian agricultural producers in agro-consultations, and farm management, as well as in the exports of their products, contributing to the growth of production productivity and profitability, says EastFruit. Blueberries are one of the company’s priorities.

“Since 2017, our company has been the first in the market to export blueberries from three pilot orchards to the Asian market. Global demand has given impetus to our further development of this sector. We realized that there was a need to supply high-quality blueberry seedlings to the country, as well as provide recommendations to farmers after planting. That is why we decided to consult farmers. Our company provides advice to producers in the following areas: budgeting and financial analysis, selection of seedlings, irrigation services, search and purchase of consumables, preparation of bank and grant documentation, orchard management, search for product sales channels, arrangement of refrigeration facilities, etc.

We have already made a fairly large contribution to the development of the industry, as evidenced by the blueberry plantations established in Georgia on hundreds of hectares and exports to various markets. Agritouch has been cooperating with such well-known nurseries as Polka borowka, De Kemp, Plant 365, and FallCreek for years. We also cooperate with San San, a manufacturer of special design plant pots. Agritouch is the only member from Georgia in the International Blueberry Organization,” said Ekaterina Vepkhvadze, founder of Agritouch and its director.

As EastFruit previously reported, Agritouch became the exclusive partner of the Bank of Georgia in 2022 in a project on blueberry orchards and acted as an intermediary between the bank and the beneficiary.
