Ukrainian carrot producers continue to confidently raise their wholesale prices, according to analysts from the EastFruit project. Market operators attribute this latest price increase to heightened demand from wholesale companies and retail chains, which keep purchasing these root vegetables for further sale.
Since the beginning of this week alone, carrot prices have risen to 23-30 UAH/kg ($0.55-0.71/kg), depending on the quality and quantity of the product offered. This is on average 15% higher than the end of last week’s prices. Producers in this segment justify the price growth with several reasons. Foremost, the upward price trend is linked to a noticeable reduction in the supply of substandard produce, as shipments from unequipped storage facilities have dropped to a minimum. Meanwhile, the demand for carrots remains quite active. Furthermore, it should be noted that some large farms are still holding back sales of high-quality carrots, hoping for further price increases.

Currently, carrots in Ukraine are being sold at an average of 2.6 times more than during the same period last year. Despite the price hikes, market operators observe that demand for carrots has not declined, leading them to speculate that farmers may attempt to increase prices again in this segment next week.
