Key Highlights:
- Onions dominate: Onion remained the top-selling product, with its supply continuing to grow.
- Trending now: There was a noticeable increase in the offerings of potatoes and table beets.
- Top-Selling Vegetables: Cucumbers and radishes were among the most sold items again this week.
- Price Fluctuations: Apples became scarcer and more expensive, while in Ukraine, potatoes and carrots became cheaper, and tomatoes more expensive. In Uzbekistan, cucumber prices surged on a week.
Market Activity: Participants from nine countries were active on the EastFruit Trade Platform, although the total number of listings decreased compared to the previous week. The most active countries were Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Egypt, Iran, and Poland.
Product Trends:
- Vegetables: The supply of onions continued to rise, making it the most frequently offer product on the platform during the first week of March 2025. Potatoes and beetroots were offered more frequently than during the previous week, while the number of sellers for carrots and cabbage decreased. Ukrainian participants increased sales of radishes and cucumbers from smaller solar greenhouses.
- Fruits: Apple sales dominated the fruit segment, although its supply decreased. Ukrainian exporters gained access to the Canadian market of fresh apples and could replace some apples from the USA at this market. Pears and grapes were offered less frequently.
Price Analysis:
- Ukraine: Prices for carrots and potatoes decreased, while tomato prices continued to rise. Sweet pepper prices increased, and the price range for cucumbers narrowed. Broccoli and cauliflower got cheaper, while zucchini became more expensive. In the fruit segment, apple and pear prices increased, while mandarin prices decreased.
- Uzbekistan: Cucumber prices surged, and tomato prices continued to rise. Carrot prices increased, while the minimum price for pears decreased and the price for mandarins increased.
- Egypt: Exporters announced initial price offers for tomatoes, and the season for Egyptian onions began with low demand from the buyers, unlike in the previous years.
