Why Southeast Asia?

  • 711 mln consumers – approximately one-tenth of the global population and slightly less than the combined population of the US and the EU – a large potential market for almost any product
  • Diverse demographic profile – both mature and young consumers, world’s most densely populated areas, ethnic, cultural, and religious diversity – thus, readiness to offer opportunities in almost any trade segment
  • Rapid economic growth – anticipated at 4.6% per annum in the upcoming years vs 3.2% global average, 4.1% in China, 1.5% in the EU, and 1.9 in the US – rapidly growing domestic market, especially for premium-quality products
  • Excellent logistics and trade opportunities – six world’s most busiest seaports are located in Southeast Asia – easily navigated logistics for almost any supplying country
  • Perfect opportunities for fruit and vegetable exports – Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Taiwan, the Philippines, and Vietnam are large net importers of fruits and vegetables – others are also rapidly increasing their imports
  • Total imports of fruits and vegetables up by 20% in 2018-2022 to more than $21 bln per annum in Southeast Asia – the region has more than 1 mln tonnes of total annual imports of onions, more than 1 mln tonnes of garlic, 700-800 thsd tonnes of oranges and mandarins, 500-600 thsd tonnes of ware potatoes or fresh grapes, as well as significant volumes of imports of fresh pomegranates, mangoes and guavas, sweet potatoes, avocados, fresh and frozen berries, as well as dried palm dates
