Ukrainian greenhouse farms have once again raised cucumber prices this week, according to analysts from EastFruit. During the peak season, local producers are witnessing high demand for greenhouse vegetables, while the supply remains constrained. Key market players attribute this situation to sharp temperature fluctuations recorded in the country in July, which led to the spread of cucumber diseases and adversely affected yields. Additionally, heat and drought exacerbate the challenges.
In the past week alone, average prices for greenhouse cucumbers in Ukraine surged by 14%. Local greenhouse complexes now offer this product for sale at 40-60 UAH/kg ($0.97-1.45/kg). Despite the rapid price increase, market participants report that demand for greenhouse cucumbers remains robust in the Ukrainian market.

It’s important to highlight that the combination of strong demand and limited supply has resulted in greenhouse cucumbers being sold at an average price 2.2 times higher than in mid-August of last year.
