The quota for Turkish tomato supplies to Russia increased to 500 thousand tons

It became known that Russia has increased quotas for tomato imports from Turkey – from 350 thousand tons to 500 thousand tons.

The corresponding order of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, published on the official portal of legal information, reports the agency “Anadolu”.

“To approve the permitted volume of import to the Russian Federation of goods <…> “fresh or chilled tomatoes” – 500,000 tons,” the document says.

From the beginning of 2016 until November 2017, a ban was imposed on the supply of Turkish tomatoes to Russia. In March 2018, a quota was introduced for imports of up to 50 thousand tons of tomatoes from Turkey. In the future, the quota was gradually increased.

EastFruit reported that the volume of tomato exports from Turkey in January-June this year amounted to 325,241 tons worth $326.1 million.

In the reported period, Turkish tomatoes arrived on the shelves of 48 countries.
