Sady Dnipra: From Middle East to Europe – A Strategic Shift in Apple Exports

The Ukrainian company “Sady Dnipra” (TM UApple) has begun exporting apples from the 2024 harvest to Middle Eastern countries. However, due to logistical challenges and saturated markets in the region, the company has decided to reorient its focus to the EU market, according to EastFruit.

Alena Shchebetakha, the company’s export manager, explained to “Sadovodstvo po-ukrainski” magazine that increased delivery times necessitated a temporary suspension of shipments to Oman, Bahrain, and Kuwait. “This is critical for us, as transportation constitutes a significant portion of our costs,” Shchebetakha stated.

Despite these challenges, the company is actively optimizing logistics through the ports of Rijeka, Constanta, and Trieste. Currently, Sady Dnipra is increasing exports to EU countries, targeting a higher-grade category to avoid competition with cheaper Polish apples.

“We offer a high-quality product that matches European apples in organoleptic characteristics. However, success in this market depends not only on quality but also on delivery speed,” the export manager noted.
