Morocco continues to increase its export of fresh raspberries to the United Kingdom, reports EastFruit. After delivering a record volume of berries to the UK market in the 2023/24 season, traders have maintained their momentum. In the first six months of the current season, the volume of raspberry exports to the UK reached 5.7 thousand tons, more than double the amount from the 2023/24 season and 41% higher than in the 2022/23 season. This marks a record for the first half of the season, with export revenue also hitting a record $52 million.
The export period for raspberries from Morocco to the UK traditionally spans from September to June, with peak shipments occurring from January to May. Therefore, there is strong potential for exports this season to surpass previous records.
The United Kingdom, one of the top five largest importers of raspberries, is the primary destination for Moroccan berries. Last season, fresh raspberry shipments to the UK accounted for 32% of Morocco’s total exports. Fresh raspberries are the leading product in terms of export revenue within the fruit segment of Moroccan exports.
Furthermore, Morocco is the main supplier of fresh raspberries to the UK, accounting for about 50% of the total imports. The second-largest exporter, Spain, supplied only 37% in the 2023/24 season.

Given that the current season’s shipments have lasted only four months, with the peak still ahead, there is every reason to believe that exports this season may break previous records.
It is also noteworthy that Morocco became the second-largest raspberry exporter in the world in 2024, second only to Mexico.
