Export volumes of Uzbek grapes continue to decline

In October 2023, the volume of exports of fresh table grapes from Uzbekistan is expected to be approximately 30% lower than in the previous month and up to 3 times lower compared to the same period of 2022, EastFruit analysts forecast.

In September 2023 Uzbekistan exported 27.3 thousand tons of fresh table grapes, which means that in October exports could reach 17.5 – 20.5 thousand tons. For comparison, in October 2023, Uzbekistan exported 54.7 thousand tons of fresh table grapes. Exports in September 2023 were 30% lower than in August and 2.2 times lower than in the same month of 2022.

Table grapes is the main export revenue generator for the agricultural sector of Uzbekistan and the decline in exports in 2023 will certainly hurt the industry. The main reason for the sharp decline in exports is the climatic disaster in the winter, which has killed a lot of vineyards in the country. Consequently, prices for table grapes in Uzbekistan are high and keep growing.

In the first three weeks of October 2023, wholesale prices for white and red table grapes in Uzbekistan were 2.5 times higher than last year’s levels, and wholesale prices for black grapes were approximately 1.5 times higher than last year’s levels.
