The export volumes of avocados from Morocco continue to grow, according to EastFruit. As project analysts predicted a year ago, the 2023/24 season has set a record for Moroccan avocado exports. A total of 56.7 thousand tons of avocados, valued at $179 million, were sent to international markets, marking a 25% increase over the 2022/23 season.
Given the current growth rate, this record is likely to be surpassed. In the first six months of the season, Morocco exported nearly 42 thousand tons of avocados, already accounting for 73% of last season’s shipments. The peak of exports is yet to come, as previous seasons’ statistics indicate that the highest volumes are typically exported in January-February.
Spain, France, and the Netherlands remain the primary destinations for Moroccan avocado exports, collectively accounting for over 80% of the total. Exports to the UK and Italy are also on the rise. Meanwhile, Morocco continues to diversify its export markets and explore new opportunities this season.

In the first six months of the current season, Moroccan avocado exports to Switzerland have already exceeded the total export volume of the 2023/25 season by 1.5 times, to Belgium by 6 times, and to Portugal by 11 times. After a two-season hiatus, exports to Canada and Turkey have resumed. Avocados have also been exported to Poland, Ukraine, and Greece, with smaller batches sent to Malaysia and Oman. From July to December 2024, Moroccan avocados were exported to 25 countries, compared to 19 for the entire previous season.
We remind you that in April this year, a trade mission of exporters of fresh berries, citrus fruits, avocados, and other vegetables and fruits from Morocco will take place in Singapore and Malaysia.
