EastFruit invites you to the International Conference “HortiTech: trends and opportunities for Georgia”

The international conference HortiTech: trends and opportunities for Georgia will be held in Tbilisi (Georgia) on April 25, 2023.

The conference is organized by the EastFruit project with the support of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).

The conference will be attended by representatives of the FAO (including international consultants from Ukraine, Moldova, Italy, and Georgia), the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, the Association of Vegetable Growers Latvijas dārznieks, Georgian and foreign producers of fruit and vegetable products and technological equipment, as well as representatives of retail and the HoReCa sector.

The event will cover global and regional technology trends in the horticulture sector to increase sector productivity, improve product quality, and at the same time save energy and reduce negative environmental impacts. In addition, the use of such technologies in Georgia will be discussed.

International and Georgian experts will present reports on the principles and technologies of precision farming. Among these technologies are automated systems that allow monitoring of weather conditions, soil, and plant conditions and adjusting orchard care, hortidrones, subsurface drip irrigation systems, and the use of renewable energy resources. The features of agricultural production in a controlled environment, for example, in vertical farms, examples of “green logistics” will be considered.

Panel discussions on the following topics will be held at the conference: “The future of subsurface drip irrigation” (with the participation of companies supplying irrigation systems), “How Georgian cuisine can benefit from vertical farms” (with the participation of HoReCa and retail companies), “Green digital solutions in different countries with the capacity assessment” (with the participation of FAO international consultants).

The conference will be held at the Wyndham Grand Tbilisi Hotel, the working languages ​​are Georgian and English. The event starts at 9.00.

On April 26, a trip to the village of Kvarkhiti, Gori region (Eastern Georgia), will be organized for the participants of the conference, where they will visit the apple orchards of the Tiriphoni Gardens company and see the cultivation of lands using a hortidrone.
