This week, analysts from EastFruit have observed a trend of decreasing prices for white cabbage in Ukraine. Producers attribute this price drop to an oversupply in the market, with a significant portion of the supply consisting of mid-late varieties that are not suitable for long-term storage.
Currently, producers are quoting prices for white cabbage between 15 and 23 UAH/kg ($0.36-0.56/kg), which is on average 16% lower than at the end of last week. The wide price range in this segment is explained by the varying quality of the vegetables offered.
According to the project’s analysts, most farms are still actively harvesting, leading to an increase in market supply. Meanwhile, demand for this product remains very low. Wholesale companies and retail chains are only willing to purchase in small quantities, citing the limited shelf life, as most farmers are offering low-quality cabbage.

It is worth noting that despite the negative price trend, current prices for white cabbage in Ukraine are on average 2.9 times higher than during the same period last year. Market participants do not rule out further price declines, as many farms are actively harvesting due to improved weather conditions. As a result, the gradual increase in cabbage supply will likely force farmers to continue lowering prices if the sales pace does not improve.
